In this post, I’m going to be going over how to disable or removeย comments in a WordPress post or page fourย different ways. I’ve also provided a video tutorialย below that walks you through the process for all fourย methods step by step in just three minutes.

How To Disable Or Remove Commentsย In A WordPress Post or Page
Theย first way you can disable or remove comments inย a WordPress post or WordPress page is very simple. ย You will see the comments section towards the bottom of your post or page like I’ve displayed in the screenshot below.
We want to head on over to the WordPress dashboard and find theย WordPress post or WordPress page depending on where your comments are showing and click edit so we can edit the post or page.
From here we want to scroll up towards the top of the post or page and click on screen options.
You will see the discussion tab where you can click to add the check mark. Go ahead and check this tab as seen below.
Now you want to scroll down towards the bottom of the post or page and find the discussion section. ย Here you will see, allow comments that will be checked. ย You want to go ahead and uncheck that so that the comments do not display any longer on your post or page. ย Right under the allow commentsย you will see allow trackbacks or pingbacks on the post or page. ย You might be wonderingย what does that mean? It is a notification system that WordPress usesย to let you know if someone has linked to your article on another website.
Once you have deselected the allow commentsย scroll up and click update. ย Then click preview changes, and you will see that the comments section from your WordPress post or WordPress page has been successfully removed.
Way Twoย – Removing Or Disabling Comments Inย A WordPress Post or Page
The second way to disable and removeย comments inย a WordPress post or WordPress page is easy just like the first way. ย We want to head on over to the WordPress dashboard and hoverย over posts or pages. ย Go ahead and click on all posts or all pages depending on where you need the comments section removed from. ย You will see quick edit under the post or page. Go ahead and click quick edit.
Scroll over to the right of the post or page, and you will see allow commentsย beingย selected. ย Deselect that and click update. ย Click on preview changes, and you will see the comments section on your post or page has been successfully removed.
Now you might be wondering, do I really have to disable andย remove comments inย a WordPress post or WordPress page individually like we have shown in the first two examples? Absolutely not! For some, this could be a very time-consuming process as there are sites with tens to hundreds of posts or pages. The below two methodsย will show you how to disable andย remove all WordPress comments from your WordPress posts or WordPress pages quickly.
Way Three – How To Disable Or Remove All Comments In A WordPress Post Or Page
Head on over to the WordPress dashboard and hover over pages or posts and you want to click on all pages or posts depending on your needs.
From here you will see towards the top a tab named title. ย Go ahead and select that to make changes to all the WordPress posts or WordPress pages. ย Above title, you will see bulk actions. ย Go ahead and click on that and change it to edit and then hit the apply button.
You will now see over on the right-hand side of the page, allow comments. ย You will see it is selected. ย Go ahead and deselect it and click update and then go to preview changes and you will see the comments has been successfully disabled andย removed in yourย WordPress post or page.
Way Fourย – How To Disable Or Remove Select Comments In A WordPress Post Or Page
Head on over to the WordPress dashboard and hover over pages or posts and you want to click on all pages or posts depending on your needs.
From here you will see where you can select individual posts or pages. ย Select all the posts or pages you want to disable or remove comments for. Once completedย you will see above the title tab, “bulk actions.” ย Go ahead and click on that and change it to edit and then hit the apply button.
You will now see over on the right-hand side of the page, allow comments. ย You will see it is selected. ย Go ahead and deselect it and click update and then go to preview changes and you will see the comments haveย been successfully disabled andย removed from your WordPress post or page.

Hi Bryan, I’m trying to remove one single comment in one single post, not all the comments. (The writer is a friend who thought he was replying to me via email, not on the blog itself.) I thought your “Way Four” above would work for this, but that method, like the others, seems to be only for removing all comments from a post. All help much appreciated, and thank you!
Hi Lynne! Thanks for reaching out. Here are the steps to remove the comment from your blog post. From the WordPress dashboard click on the comments tab on the left side menu. It’ll now showcase all the comments left on your blog. Find the comment that you want to be removed and hover over it. You will see a red trash icon. Click this to send the comment to the trash. The comment will no longer appear on your blog post. Cheers!
I cannot thank you enough for the blog post. Great.
Thank you!
