When you purchase a domain name that isn’t with your hosting provider you will need to point your nameservers from your hosting provider to your domain provider.

Once you purchase your hosting with a provider, you will be provided with nameservers in which you will need to point to your domain provider.

In this case, you will be pointing your domain name from Godaddy to Hostgator.

Hostgator Nameservers:

You can find your Hostgator nameservers by going to the welcome email Hostgator sent you after you purchased your Hostgator hosting plan.

You can also access your Hostgator nameservers by logging into Hostgator’s Cpanel.

Once logged in to the Hostgator Cpanel you want to find the preferences tab located in the left menu.

Scroll down a bit under General, and you will see your Hostgator nameservers listed.

Once logged into Godaddy, go to the ‘My Products’ page found in the menu and find the button that says ‘DNS’ over to the right of the page. Click the ‘DNS’ button.
